The UTEP Division of Student Affairs touches upon every aspect of a student's university experience. Our work focuses not just on student achievements in the classroom, but on creating a foundation of success in life. 

We provide the resources that students need to thrive, creating opportunities for professional development, academic resources, access to basic needs, health and wellness, enrichment experiences and safe places to live. We create a sense of belonging and connection, welcoming students – and their families – into life at the university. For many, this starts years before orientation, allowing them to get a sense of what is possible – and how to create a path to get there. 

More than 50% of the students at UTEP are the first in their family to attend a university. For these students and their families, navigating the university world can be intimidating and confusing. But in Student Affairs, we have a network of programs that foster connections and break down barriers to success for these and other underserved students. 

We help students land internships, prepare for careers and gain the skills and experiences needed to become world-class leaders. We enhance each student’s development, complement their classroom experience and provide them access to leadership opportunities, transformative experiences, civic engagement and tools for personal development.
