Approximately 80 percent of UTEP students receive some type of financial support to attend UTEP. Almost 2/3 of our students come from families with a household income of less than $37,000 a year. An unexpected financial challenge like a car repair, illness or a loss of a job is catastrophic and can disrupt a student’s education aspirations, causing them to stop out temporarily or dropout completely.
Obtaining a college degree is life changing and opens opportunities that not only transform the lives of our students but also their families. Your donation to the Student Emergency Assistance Fund through Raise Your Pick Giving Day can provide a lifeline for students and enable them to stay in school and attain their degree.
The Student Emergency Fund is critical to our students’ success, alleviating unexpected financial hardships. The money provided from the fund can pay for needs such as utilities, car repair, medication, books and supplies, transportation assistance and more.
“I sincerely appreciate the generous donors, for providing support to me during my difficult times last semester fall 2022. The student emergency funds allocated to me really went a long way, as I was able to use the money to pay my house rent and part of my school fees. I want to use this medium to say a very big thank you to UTEP for giving me that opportunity.“
- Adebusola Adewale, Graduate Student
The Student Emergency Fund is entirely supported by charitable donations. With your support, we can help students with unexpected financial hardships, ultimately keeping them in school and on the way toward graduation.
